Question: I am expecting a new baby soon. Are any of your pediatricians accepting new patients? If so, how can I set up a newborn appointment for my baby?
Answer:
- Newborns should be seen within 48-72 hours of discharge from the hospital, so please call us after your baby is born to book an appointment with one of our pediatricians.
- The following pediatricians are currently accepting new patients:
- Dr. Viveka DeGuerra
- Dr. Sara Ali
- Dr. Karen Grewal
Question: What measures are you taking to prevent and minimize potential exposure to COVID-19 at appointments?
Answer:
- We have instituted the following measures:
- Only one parent/caregiver is permitted to come with each patient (except under rare special circumstances)
- Prior to each appointment, we are calling and screening ALL patients and the accompanying parent / caregiver for symptoms of illness and potential exposure
- In the main lobby of our building, ALL staff and patients who enter the building are screened for symptoms of illness and potential exposure
- To limit the number of people in the clinic and waiting room, we have:
- Reduced the number of patients scheduled per day to half of the usual number
- We have spaced out seating in the waiting room to allow for 2 meters of distance between groups
Question: Should I delay my child's vaccines during the pandemic?
Answer:
- You should not delay your child's vaccines. The Canadian Pediatric Society recommends keeping your child's vaccines up to date on the usual schedule, and this is our priority.
- Delaying or not getting routine vaccines could put your child at risk for common and serious childhood infections.
